Technical Specs for Media Content

We can include media content of any type in our surveys, but certain file formats are more likely to succeed across a range of browser types and versions.

Graphics
.JPG and .GIF are preferred formats if the images you're sending are ready for inclusion in the survey. If they need to be manipulated by us first (for example, resized), then bitmap files (bmp) are best, since they are uncompressed.

Audio
Though we can work with any kind of audio file, our preference is an MP3.

Video
We can take the video in almost any format. In most cases we then convert into Flash Video, which is the most accessible video format for the web, and host it on our Flash video server. It is the format used on most major video sites such as YouTube and Google Video.

Streaming Video Content

Depending on the number of videos in a particular study, and the logic involved, we can start streaming the video to the client once the survey begins, limiting the impact on users with lower bandwidth rates. If logic determines who sees what video, we can't start streaming immediately.

To secure video content, we can prevent download and replay of streaming video, prevent stolen content from being streamed from other servers, and prevent remote client referencing to prevent unauthorized access.
